On Easter Monday, me, Lindsay and Sean went to the horse races here in St. Kitts at Beaumont Park. The races occur approximately every 2-3 weeks and the horses come from St. Kitts, Nevis and Antigua. The jockeys here are nothing like back home. They are mostly locals who look 6 feet tall on the horses. We overheard that it is best to bet on the jockeys rather than the horse because the jockeys are more experienced, with some horses running on the track for the first time. We got to see the jockey who won the Kentucky Derby last year, and he and his horse won the 2nd or 3rd race.

This was taken at Timothy Beach one day when the spouses were hanging out at Elvis'. I love watching the cruise ships leave port. It amazes me have they navigate their way to the next destination in seemingly endless open water.
While playing dominos on Lindsay's porch, I was admiring the sport of kite boarding. I would love to try this, but it is really expensive for a lesson. And I am sure it is not as easy as it looks.

This is a new place that I just discovered through friends. It is at the bottom of Bird Rock Resort and it is a nice little man-made cove off of the Caribbean Sea. Off in the background is the southern peninsula of St. Kitts and Nevis peaking into the clouds.
Last Friday was the end of semester volleyball tournament. Our team won second after battling a 3 game championship game, losing in the end by 2 points. Our team prize was a case of budlight and bottle of Tequila. We played 1 game on Friday and 4 on Saturday. I was near heat exhaustion during the last game, but made it through without passing out! It was soo hot that day!
Ok, so I know you are thinking this is all about me, but if I blogged about what Eric has been doing for the last two weeks, it would be endless pictures of him with his nose in a book studying for finals. There was one day where I didn't even see Eric at all! He left the house before I woke up, and then got home REALLY late while I was hanging out with the other temporary vet student widows. He had two lab finals this past week, and begins final hell week on Monday. He will have four consecutive finals starting on Monday, having one on each day until Thursday. (I have no idea why these last few paragraphs are underlined, but I can't figure out how to take it off!
While most students and spouses are counting down the days to return to America over the break, Eric and I will stay here on the island for 2 weeks until his next semester begins. Eric's parents will be here a week from today! We are so excited to see them and can't wait to show them the island. They will leave on Tuesday and then my family will be here the following week. Say a little prayer for Eric as he endures countless hours in the library preparing for these life-changing finals. Hugs and Kisses for the friends and family back home!
